Public Advisory Panel
Contribute to the development of veterinary policy and support the College’s mandate in serving the public interest in Ontario.
Member of the Public (not a veterinarian or employed by a veterinarian)
The College is currently receiving applications from members of the non-veterinary public to fill 10 positions on a new Public Advisory Panel. This is an opportunity to share your knowledge as someone who owns animals or is involved in the animal sector and contribute to the regulation of the veterinary profession in Ontario.
As a member of the Public Advisory Panel, you will be asked to advise Council on emerging trends related to animals, their care, and other issues within the sector that are important to the public, offer advice and feedback on draft policy; and share input on College communications.
Council has supported the establishment of the panel as a means to advance public voice in regulatory policy, which is one of its key objectives in Strategy 2020.
Membership to the panel will be selected to ensure representation is broad and diverse.
To be eligible to serve on the panel, you are asked to:
- Understand the role of the College
- Not be a member of the veterinary profession
- Be available to attend meetings
The panel will meet at least three times annually, one of which will be a two-hour session with Council. The term is three years with one opportunity to renew.
A per diem will be provided and meeting expenses will be covered.
Application and Selection
Applications are being accepted until March 16, 2018. Those who are interested are asked to complete and submit an online Application Form. Click here to apply now.
