Veterinary Practice Panel
Contribute to the development of College policy and share practice experience
The College is currently recruiting 14 veterinarians to contribute to a new Veterinary Practice Panel (VPP). This is an opportunity to share your experience and contribute to the self-regulation of the veterinary profession in Ontario.
As a member of the panel, you would be asked to advise Council on emerging policy matters; offer feedback on draft policy; share input on the College communications to the profession; assist in identifying risk areas in practice; and identify emerging trends in practice.
Council has supported the establishment of the panel as a means to ensure agility in public access to veterinary medicine, which is one of its key objectives in Strategy 2020.
Membership to the panel will be selected to ensure equitable representation from diverse species groups. The panel will also include individuals who work in public health, a student from the Ontario Veterinary College, and practice owners.
To be eligible to serve on the panel, you are asked to have:
- A licence with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
- Five years experience in practice
- No complaints or discipline history in the past six years
- Not been a member of a College committee in the past three years.
- A schedule that enables you to attend meetings
The panel will meet at least three times annually, one of which will be a two-hour session with Council. The term is three years with one opportunity to renew.
A per diem will be provided and meeting expenses will be covered.
