Draft Professional Practice Standard - Delegation
At its June 2015 meeting, Council approved a revised draft Professional Practice Standard on Delegation for circulation and consultation. The new draft Professional Practice Standard: Delegation will replace the previous position statements of the College regarding supervision and delegation – “Delegating to Auxiliaries in Companion Animal Practice,” “Delegating to Auxiliaries in Food Animal & Equine Practice,” and “General Principles of Delegation.”
The new draft Professional Practice Standard: Delegation recognizes the team-based approach which is being increasingly adopted in veterinary medicine. The Standard sets out the practise expectations for all veterinarians who supervise and delegate to members of the veterinary team who are not veterinarians, and sets out the circumstances and conditions under which delegation is appropriate.
