At its June 2016 meeting, Council approved a new draft Professional Practice Standard on Advertising, which sets out expectations for advertising by veterinarians, for circulation and consultation. The Standard will replace the College’s Advisory Statement on Advertising.
The expectations of veterinarians related to advertising are not changing. However, the practice expectations related to advertising will now be stipulated within a Professional Practice Standard. This Professional Practice Standard will align with the changes to Regulation 1093, which came into effect in November 2015 and which were circulated to the profession last year.
Revising the policy into a Professional Practice Standard will allow the College to develop useful tools and guidance for the profession, including frequently asked questions related to advertising, social media, and related issues.
