Consultation Process & Posting Guidelines
Respondents are asked to review each topic’s consultation page as well as all provided documents before providing their feedback. There are three ways to provide feedback.
Complete the Online Survey
An online survey has been developed that contains predetermined questions designed to help format feedback. All responses are anonymous.
Submit a Written Response to the College Directly
Respondents have the option to submit written comments directly to the College. These responses will be added to the other responses received and be kept anonymous in the aggregated report. Respondents are encouraged to consider the questions contained in the online survey before submitting their comments.
Submit a Written Response for Public Posting
Respondents have the option to submit written comments for posting on the public consultation page for each topic. Respondents can choose whether to keep their response anonymous.

How Your Feedback Will be Used
All consultation feedback received will be reviewed for trends and themes. These trends and themes are presented, along with representative comments, to Council for its consideration.
Consultation feedback is an essential and valued component of policy development and is one of the main ways that both veterinarians and members of the public can express their thoughts and comments to Council. It is used to:
- Determine whether a document is clear, concise and comprehensible;
- Determine whether a document speaks equally to veterinary care in all species and practice types;
- Determine whether there are areas of a document that create confusion;
- Determine whether there are areas of consideration that require further comment or review;
- Determine whether a document needs further amendment or development before publication; and
- Determine whether the document will require an accompanying guide and the questions that will be included within it.
The College reads comments to make sure they adhere to the Posting Guidelines. Comments that appear to be in breach of the Posting Guidelines may be deleted.
The College removes personal identifiers and information that may identify a third party prior to posting.
Individuals who are contributing their comments have the option of sending a private message via e-mail to the College to share their feedback rather than posting online.
The College does not endorse any of the views in the comments that are posted.
What is and isn't acceptable?
Please keep your submissions relevant to the topic and be civil.
- Racist, sexist and offensive language;
- Hate speech;
- Sexually explicit content;
- Personal attacks and defamatory statements;
- Breaking copyright or intellectual property rules (that includes copying and pasting excerpts from other sites without permission and attribution);
- Comments relating to an ongoing investigation or any other matters considered confidential;
- Violating someone's privacy, e.g. by providing personal information such as phone numbers and e-mail addresses;
- Threats or harassment;
- Insensitive comments;
- Posting press releases and commercial promotions; and
- Anything illegal.
What if I see a comment I don't like?
If you disagree with a comment, you are welcome to respond. If you feel someone has violated the Posting Guidelines, contact the College.
