Status: Regulatory concept received general consensus at the Transition Council at the September 23 & 24, 2024 meeting. Prior to public consultation, the Transition Council will review all the proposed concepts again.

Overview

The Veterinary Professionals Act is less prescriptive than the Veterinarians Act on the composition and quorum for statutory committees and associated panels. Statutory committees and panels contribute to College programs and support the mandate. Ensuring the right number of individuals with the necessary backgrounds and skillsets is essential. The College has received legal advice recommending that minimum requirements for committee and panel composition be included in the regulations. Other details, such as maximums, ratios and vacancies, will be outlined in the by-laws.

The draft concept receiving general consensus by the Transition Council outlines membership and quorum requirements, ensuring veterinarian, veterinary technician and public voices. The draft concept also embraces diverse voices.
